Elton Street Party 2013 – Thank You!

Elton Parish Council would like to say a big thank you to everybody who made the Elton Street Party 2013 a huge success.

So thank you to everybody who came along to join in the fun in the sun, helped to set-up, watched over the games, donated food and tombola prizes and helped out in any other way. The joint community effort is what made it a great day for all.

We would also like to say a big thank you to the WI ladies and their helpers for serving up the food and drink and to the residents who provided the attractions of steam engines and racing cars.

The event was kindly funded by Elton Parish Council, but I am pleased to tell you that thanks to contributions to play the games and generous donations on the day we have easily covered all of our costs and even made a small profit.

Unlike last year, there were no sponsors from outside bodies. This goes to show that this year’s event was better attended and that the Street Party can be affordable and fun for everybody at no cost to the Parish.

All income and expenditure will be published shortly.

Thanks again to everybody.

The organisers of the event would like to say a big thank you to everybody who attended, helped out and sponsored the event. We couldn’t have done it without your generosity!

We hope everybody who came along had fun and sampled some good ale.

We look forward to seeing you next year…

Elton Street Party – Can You Help Make it Happen?

Last year, the Parish Council held a successful street party in celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The event brought the community together for a day of fun and enjoyment.

In recent months residents have approached me to ask if the Parish Council are planning on holding another street party this year. I put the proposal to the Parish Council at the May meeting and it was agreed that it would be good to hold another event and to start looking into idea and start organising it.

At the time of writing no initial plans are in place or dates decided. I would, however, be grateful to hear from any residents would be interested in helping with either the organising of the event, preparations for the day or anybody who can volunteer during the street party. If you are unable to help, I would still be interested in hearing your suggestions for games, activities or entertainment.

The street party will only happen with your help. Anybody who does offer to lend a hand can be assured that they will not be asked to do anything they do not want to do or more than they can manage.

If you can help, I would be pleased to hear from you. Please telephone me on 07816 986 956 or email elton@live.co.uk.
