Following a community collection in Elton and Winster for retiring postman of 25 years, Peter Wheeldon has sent a message of thanks to local residents.
A total of £1650 was raised and presented to Pete along with numerous cards and well wishes.
A heartfelt thank you message was presented in a card through Winster Post Office and put on display in the Village Shop and noticeboards.
In case you haven’t seen it, here is the message from one much loved, missed and grateful postman.
‘A big THANK YOU to the people of WINSTER AND ELTON for your kind wishes and cards and the fantastic much appreciated gift I have received from you.
I am very humbled and was left speechless at your extremely kind generosity and for still thinking of me.
I thank you all so much for your friendship and helpfulness over the last 25 years and will miss delivering the mail to you but won’t miss the bad weather!
Many, many grateful thanks from PETE THE POSTMAN & family’
