Local Elections -Thursday 2 May 2019
Since the arrival of polling cards a week or so ago, a number of people have been in touch to ask who/what is up for election. Below is an explanation sent on behalf of the Parish Council.
Local Elections across the Derbyshire Dales and other local authorities in England will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019. In these elections voters will choose who represents them on Parish, Town and District Councils.
In Elton specifically, a ballot will be held to elect your District Councillor only.
There are two candidates in this election…
1 Charlie Foster-Philips (Labour Party Candidate)
2 Colin Swindell (Independent)
Elton and Gratton residents can cast their vote in Elton Village Hall between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 2 May.
Normally you would also be electing your representatives for the Parish Council, however, no ballot will take place this time round.
There are 6 seats on Elton Parish Council and 6 candidates put their names forward. As there are not more candidates than seats, an election is not required.
The 6 candidates for the Parish Council who have been elected unopposed are…
1 John Moseley
2 Colin Swindell
3 Nigel Mason
4 Maralyn Marsden
5 Cath Dawe
6 Clare Jackson
I hope that this makes the situation clear. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
