Government Guidance, Self-Isolating and Support
- Government guidance has changed. Residents are asked to stay at home as much as possible to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, reduce pressure on our NHS and save lives. You can go out, but this should only be for exercise or essential journeys.
- You should only leave home for essential or specific purposes. There are exceptions which include:
1. Work and volunteering – if you cannot work from home and your workplace is Covid-secure.
2. For essentials – including shopping, collecting prescriptions, postal services, to get money etc.
3. Medical appointments – including dental, hospital and doctor appointments.
4. Education, school and childcare.
5. To meet with and provide care for others in your ‘support bubble’.
6. To exercise outdoors – there is no longer a time limit or distance you can travel.
7. Other exceptions include private prayer at a place or worship and funerals.
- You should limit your time outdoors as much as possible and not meet indoors with people from another household. You can spend time outdoors with people from your household or support bubble and one other person. At all times limit contact with other people as much as possible and always keep a 2 metre distance.
- Stay at home and isolate yourself if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of Coronavirus which include a high temperature, a new/continuous cough or loss/change to your sense of taste or smell.
- Non-essential shops are closed. Pubs and restaurants are also closed, but takeaway is permitted.
- For full details on the government’s guidelines, visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus
- There are no formal requests for people with underlying health conditions to shield or self-isolate. It is advised, however, that anybody with a chronic health condition should stay at home as much as possible and limit contact with others unless it is essential.
- Elton residents who are self-isolating can get support by calling either Colin Swindell on 07816 986 956 or Carolyn Wilson on 01629 650 757. We will get one of our volunteers to assist.
- Derbyshire County Council has set-up a Community Response Unit in partnership with other voluntary organisations to help with shopping, checking-in on people, collecting and delivering prescriptions and preparing meals. Register for help online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk or call 01629 535091.
