Please see below a recent update from your District Councillor on the services that have been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and those which are due to resume.
Garden waste collections
Garden waste collections restarted on 1st June 2020. Collections will take place on your usually scheduled collection day along with your recycling waste. Please remember that food waste continues to be collected fortnightly with your general household waste.
Residents are asked to show patience and understanding whilst the service resumes. To ensure all households get a collection, residents are asked not to overfill or compact the green waste in their bins. The bin lifts on the back of the refuse wagons have a maximum weigh limit. Bins that are too heavy will be rejected.
Households on green sack collections will have no more than 5 sacks collected.
Public toilets and markets
Weekly markets in our towns are currently suspended and public toilets remain closed. These measures were put in place at the start of the UK lockdown to protect the safety and wellbeing of the public and council staff.
Very recently the government guidelines have changed. A committee of councillors is due to meet on 11 June 2020 to discuss restarting the Bakewell market and reopening the public toilets.
Parking permit
As reported previously, charges have been reinstated at the off-street car parks in our towns that are operated by Derbyshire Dales District Council.
Shortly before the lockdown, every household across the Derbyshire Dales was issued with a new residents parking permit. This included with your council tax bill. The permit allows Dales residents to park free of charge up to 11am and after 4pm.
Please make sure you have removed your old permit and the new one is clearly displayed on your windscreen or dashboard. Failure to display the current permit could result in a parking fine.
Household Waste and Recycling Centres
Household Waste and Recycling Centres have reopened to the public. A big reminder that strict rules are in place about what waste can be deposited, when you can visit the sites and the types of vehicles being accepted. Please visit http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk for details.
There is a high demand for this service and a lengthy queue. Please make sure you read this information to prevent a wasted journey, make sure you leave with plenty of time to spare. You might also be in your vehicles for long periods of time in warm weather, so make sure you have a drink and are not carrying vulnerable people or animals.
