Council Tax Refund SCAM
Local residents are being warned about a scam in Derbyshire Dales area where the caller is claiming to be from the District Council and advising that you are to receive a Council Tax refund.
This is a *SCAM*!
The fraudster states money will be paid direct to your bank account, reassuring the “customer” that he is not asking them for any bank details as the Council already hold the resident’s bank account details. He asks for confirmation of the resident’s full name, date of birth and the name of the bank they use.
Do not give out any information if you receive this type of call. If you are concerned that you may have revealed sensitive information, please contact your bank.
