Dear resident
You might be aware that over the past 20 months I have been fundraising on behalf of the Elton Jubilee Field Committee to purchase a new children’s play area. I am writing to every household in Elton to update you on the project so far.
We now have plans and quotes from three different suppliers and we want to know what you think. Tell us which design you like best and which we should continue to fundraise towards.
Below are details about the project so far, how you can have your say and make a donation if you wish. If you have further questions, please ask.
Why do we need a new play area?
The existing play equipment on the Jubilee Field has been in place for along time – parts of it for over 25 years! There are visible signs of wear and tear and rusting. The wooden play frame is rotting in places and will not meet safety standards in the foreseeable future. Increasing numbers of children in Elton means there is a growing need to put in place safe and exciting equipment on which children can play.
How much has been raised so far?
This type of equipment is not cheap and raising funds to pay for it is a long process – especially during in a pandemic. Since the project began in August 2019, just over £12,000 has been generously donated by local residents and businesses. Donations continue to trickle in. This puts us in a good position to apply for larger grants and match-
funding. Grant applications are already underway and we are awaiting responses.
Who are the suppliers that have provided the designs and quotes?
We have three sets of plans and quotes from reputable UK based suppliers. These are Playdale, Wicksteed and Fawns. Each design includes similar range of equipment, but they differ in style, materials and costs.
Where can I view the designs?
The designs and details you need are here to view on this website. Please view them at the bottom of this page. They can also be viewed on Elton’s noticeboard at the town mere (by the telephone box) and on the Jubilee Field Facebook page (@eltonjubileefield). Each design has an illustration of the play area and accompanying notes about the equipment, cost, materials and guarantees.
How can I give my feedback on the designs?
At your convenience, please look at the designs and let us know what you think. You can have your say by completing
the small questionnaire over the page and return it to me at the above address or by emailing elton@live.co.uk. Please try to give your comments by 31 May.
How can I Make a Donation?
Due to the pandemic, fundraising has been limited. We have been fundraising where we can and asking local residents and businesses to donate. We welcome donations of any size! If you wish to make a donation, please give it to me at my home address or I can collect it from you. Please makes cheques payable to Elton Jubilee Field. For BACS details please get in touch using the details above. We will ask anybody making a donation to complete a simple Gift Aid form so that we can claim and extra 25p for every £1 you donate. A receipt will also be given for every donation received.
Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you have found it useful. Please take the time to tell us what you think. We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project. If you have any further questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best wishes
Colin Swindell

Cheaper all metal play equipment seems good, all round ,suits all age groups.
Second would be the 3rd option.
